Taitung, a coastal city in southeastern Taiwan facing the Pacific Ocean, experienced widespread disruption from the storm.
The typhoon forced the evacuation of 5,500 people and prompted the deployment of the military to assist. Hundreds of flights were cancelled, including 252 domestic and 129 international flights. Nine municipalities, including Kaohsiung and Tainan, closed offices and suspended classes, while Taipei reported no major impact.
