United Nations Special Rapporteur on Gaza, Francesca Albanese, holds a press conference in Bogota on Tuesday, July 15, after being sanctioned by the United States.
Albanese has repeatedly condemned 'genocide' and alleged human rights violations, which both Israel and the US have strongly denied.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described her actions as part of a broader "campaign of political and economic pressure" targeting both the US and Israel, saying it "will no longer be tolerated".
The event is part of the Emergency Ministerial Conference on Palestine, convened by The Hague Group and co-chaired by the governments of Colombia and South Africa.
The conference, aimed at co-ordinating the international response, takes place on July 15-16 and features high-level representatives, international experts, and civil society organisations.
