Thousands of Muslims take part in the symbolic 'stoning of the devil' Jamarat ritual in Mina, near Mecca, on Friday, June 6, as part of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
It commemorates the Prophet Ibrahim’s own rejection of the devil, with pilgrims throwing seven pebbles at each of three stone pillars.
The stoning is a central component of the Hajj and takes place during Eid al-Adha. After completing the ritual at the largest pillar, known as Al-Jamrah Al-Aqaba, pilgrims traditionally cut or shave their hair, signifying spiritual renewal.
