Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defence Minister Lloyd Austin III took part in a family photo with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles in Annapolis on Tuesday, as the annual US-Australia AUSMIN talks kicked off.

Footage shows the politicians walking together to pose for pictures before the meeting where China's 'coercive behaviour', tensions in the Middle East and other issues were set to be discussed.

"We're working together today to tackle shared security challenges, from coercive behaviour by the PRC to Russia's war of choice against Ukraine, to the turmoil in the Middle East," Austin said on Monday according to media reports.

The annual AUSMIN talks were attended by top military officials of both sides and reportedly focused on the AUKUS programme under which Washington alongside the UK is set to assist Canberra in acquiring three nuclear-powered submarines alongside other forms of security partnership.
